Kina ny Associate Participant i GBIF

Dear GBIF colleague,

I have great pleasure to announce that, following a series of fruitful meetings and after discussion within the GBIF Executive Committee, the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) has just signed the GBIF Memorandum of Understanding as an organisational Associate Participant.

CAS has shown great interest in GBIF and has been an enthusiastic adopter of GBIF recommendations and of the Global Biodiversity Informatics Outlook (GBIO). The Academy is active in many biodiversity informatics activities globally and in the Asian region, including the establishment of ABCDNet, Asia Biodiversity Conservation and Database Network. We look forward to working with CAS to integrate more data from east Asia into GBIF and to developing a closer relationship with China.

Dr Keping Ma will attend the upcoming Governing Board meeting in Berlin (http://gb20.gbif.org/GB20/), giving those in attendance the opportunity to welcome CAS into GBIF.
