Satellite remote sensing and global biodiversity monitoring, London 29 april

Mat Disney, UCL

Doreen Boyd, Nottingham University

Gary Geller, Group on Earth Observations

Lucas Joppa, Microsoft Research

Emily Nicholson, Deakin University

Nathalie Pettorelli, Institute of Zoology, ZSL

I am currently hiring for a postdoc position (see job ad below and atwinfreelab.com <http://winfreelab.com>), and would welcome applicationsfrom any qualified candidates you might recommend. Thanks!RachaelPostdoctoral Opening in Biodiversity-Ecosystem Services / PollinationCreative and highly motivated candidates with strong track records ofresearch productivity are invited to apply for an NSF-fundedPostdoctoral Associate position. Position will involve research at theintersection of biodiversity-ecosystem services research and pollinationecology and is based in Rachael Winfree’s lab group at RutgersUniversity (winfreelab.com <http://winfreelab.com>). The selectedapplicant will lead a landscape-scale field experiment to explore therelationship between pollinator diversity and the pollination deliveredto spring ephemeral plant communities, as well as leading the analysisand paper-writing for the project. The project is a collaboration withNeal Williams at UC Davis and the Postdoctoral Associate will workcollaboratively with both Winfree and Williams on multiple aspects ofthe project. Applications will be evaluated based on past researchproductivity, alignment of applicant experiences with the goals of theWinfree lab, and the individual’s potential to grow as a productive, independent investigator. Target start date is April 2016 and theposition is funded for two years.Qualifications:  Applicants must have a Ph.D in ecology or a relatedfield, a strong track record of leading successful field researchprojects, and excellent statistical and simulation modeling skills usingR. The successful candidate will likely have expertise in one of more ofthe following fields: biodiversity-ecosystem functioning, pollinationecology, ecosystem services, landscape ecology.Application: Applicants should send a single pdf file consisting of aletter of interest, CV, 2 representative publications, and contactinformation for three references to Rachael Winfree  rwinfree@rutgers.edu, using “NSF postdoc candidate“ as the subjectline. Applications will be accepted until January 1 2016, or until theposition is filled.Rutgers University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer*****************Rachael WinfreeAssociate ProfessorDepartment of Ecology, Evolution and Natural ResourcesRutgers UniversityTel 848 932 8315winfreelab.com

Doktorand i biodiversitetsforskning till Trondheim!

Publicerat av GBIF-Sweden --

Dear all,

excellent candidates for a PhD position on “Biodiversity in heterogeneous environments“ are wanted at NTNU. Department of Biology at NTNU in Trondheim (Norway) can fund two PhD positions among 14 different topics. We would like to find an excellent and highly motivated candidate for going into the competition of the projects funded by the Department of Biology. Our project aims to test theories on how landscape topography with all its microclimatic variation affects species capacity to adapt or disperse in response to climate change. The approaches to study this topic will involve fieldwork, theoretical and/or macroecological methods. If this sounds interesting to you, please read more about the project here and take contact with one of us before 22nd of January using the below email addresses:

Evolution in Sweden 2016

Publicerat av GBIF-Sweden --

Dear evolutionary biology colleagues,

Det fjärde mötet Evolution in Sweden äger rum i Lund 13-14 Januari 2016.
