Director for SBDI – position open
The Swedish Museum of Natural History is recruiting a new Director for the Swedish Biodiversity Data Infrastructure (SBDI).
SBDI is Sweden’s national research infrastructure for biodiversity data and works in close synergy with GBIF Sweden, the national node of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility. Together, SBDI and GBIF Sweden strengthen access to biodiversity data at both national and global levels, ensuring that Swedish data are interoperable, openly available, and aligned with international standards.
The Director will lead the strategic and operational development of SBDI, with responsibility for long-term planning, coordination with partner institutions, stakeholder engagement, and representation in relevant national and international contexts. The role is central to advancing open and FAIR biodiversity data in Sweden and to supporting research, environmental monitoring, and evidence-based policy.
This is a senior leadership position for an individual with experience in research infrastructure, biodiversity science, data management, or a related field, combined with strong management and collaboration skills.
